Dushanbe police have urged parents to pay closer attention to their children’s behavior, mobile phone use and social media activity after reports of schoolchildren livestreaming during lessons and posting indecent photos online.
According to the Dushanbe Police Department, some pupils were broadcasting live on Instagram and TikTok during classes, disrupting teachers and interfering with the learning process.
The police department published a video in which schoolchildren describe such incidents and urge their peers not to repeat this behavior.
The department also reported that some minors had posted indecent photographs on social media in an attempt to attract more followers.
Police said explanatory discussions had been held with the pupils and their parents. Some parents were held administratively liable under Article 90 of Tajikistan’s Code of Administrative Offences for failing to properly supervise their children.
The department called on parents to take greater responsibility for their children’s upbringing, monitor their online activities and teach them to respect teachers and the educational process.
Parents fined over child-rearing responsibilities
Dushanbe police have previously highlighted parents’ responsibility for the behavior and upbringing of minors.
In an earlier case, a court in the capital considered 17 administrative cases against parents and fined the offenders 15 calculation indicators each.
The court held an off-site session on October 7 at School No. 128 in the Firdavsi district. The session was attended by officers from the juvenile and youth unit of OMVD-1 and representatives of the district court.
According to the police department, the proceedings focused on preventing juvenile offences, ensuring compliance with the law and strengthening parental responsibility for children’s education and upbringing.
