Sanaa – The Houthi group in Yemen announced on Sunday that it had launched three ballistic missile attacks, targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, an airbase in Khamis Mushait, and a naval base in Jazan, southern Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, the group said it used dozens of ballistic missiles in the attacks, claiming to have hit targets at all three locations.
It added that the attack on the airbase in Khamis Mushait targeted aircraft hangars, ammunition depots, and drone control centers, while it claimed that Saudi military personnel were killed and wounded in the attack on the southern naval base belonging to the Border Guard in Jazan.
The Houthi group justified the attacks as retaliation for Saudi airstrikes that it said targeted Sanaa and other areas on Saturday, resulting in deaths and injuries, including women and children.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Civil Defense announced on Sunday that a Saudi citizen and an Asian resident were injured by debris from two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis after they were intercepted and destroyed.
The Civil Defense explained that the debris fell in the governorates of Khamis Mushait and Ahad Rafidah, and also caused damage to three residential buildings and seven vehicles, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
