Turkish pop singer Murat Boz and actor Demet Özdemir were rescued by boat early Thursday after spending hours trapped at a flooded studio complex in İstanbul, where severe flooding has killed three people and left four others missing, the DHA news agency reported.
Boz and Özdemir were at Phoenix Studios in Ayazağa, in the northern Sarıyer district, when floodwaters surrounded the complex Wednesday evening, entered studio buildings and knocked out electricity.
Boz posted videos from the studio as the water continued to rise, saying hundreds of people were stranded and appealing for emergency assistance.
“Everywhere is under water, the studios are flooding, the electricity is out,” Boz said. “We are stranded here along with hundreds of workers. We are waiting for urgent support from the authorities.”
In a later post Boz said the water was continuing to rise and that they had only the final “10 to 15 steps” of higher ground remaining inside the complex.
Özdemir also appealed for help, saying she was stranded at Phoenix Studios on Cendere Road.

Emergency teams including Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), İstanbul firefighters, the Coast Guard, police divers, medical rescue teams and the AKUT volunteer group worked through the night to reach people trapped in the flooded area.
DHA reported that Özdemir and others were evacuated from the studio by boat.
Boz was also rescued by boat and later shared footage captioned “We are being evacuated.”
He said a police diving team reached them at around 4:09 a.m.
“God bless you,” Boz told rescuers during the evacuation. “You worked so hard. You evacuated so many people here. Thank you for being here.”
Emergency crews separately evacuated about 200 workers from flooded businesses in the greater Ayazağa area using boats, trucks, minibuses and construction equipment. The figure covers the surrounding commercial area and not Phoenix Studios alone.
Singer Nazan Öncel was also among those stranded during the flooding, saying hundreds of people in the area were unable to leave and that children at a nearby school were also stuck.
The rescues came as torrential rain brought İstanbul to a standstill, flooding homes and businesses, submerging roads and sweeping away vehicles. The death toll rose to three on Thursday, while four people were reported missing.
