HERE are the Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday player ratings from Saturday afternoon’s Yorkshire derby at the Club Doncaster Sports Village.
Doncaster Rovers
Simkin: Nothing to do in the first half. Far, far busier on restart. 8
Sterry: A welcome sight back in the starting XI. Did well in his first start since late August. 7

Byrne: Calm enough and did his job. 7
Grehan: Apart from one second half moment, did little wrong. 8
Senior: Returned from injury and slotted back in like he’d never been away. 7
Gotts: Snappy and at it on derby day. 7

Bailey: Relit his goalscoring fire. 8
Akinde: Relished the derby stage. Lively. 8
Hutchinson: Two assists and contributed significantly. 8
Adelakun: You had to go back for late August for his previous league start. Made the most of it. 7
Keane: Started a competitive game for the first time since March, but you’d never had guessed. Clever and linked play expertly. 8
Substitutes: May (Keane 68). Should have scored late on. 6.
Hanlan (Hutchinson 68) 6.
O’Reilly (Adelakun 68) 6.
Broadbent (Sterry 68) 6.
McCann (Ayinde 80).
Not used: Bryant, McGrath.
Sheffield Wednesday
Maynard-Brewer: Not convincing at all and the opposite of being a calming presence in the first half. 5
Valery: Lacked intensity and bite on derby day and went through the motions at times. 4
Palmer: Back in at league level for the first time since the opening day and found it hard going at times. 5
Cooper: Stretched in the first half especially. Testing afternoon. 5
M Lowe: A welcome returnee. Unfortunately, did not exude calm as he can. 5
Bannan: Did not cover himself in glory for Rovers’ opener. Better in second half. Went close twice. 5
Mitchell: Struggled and was loose with the ball in the first half. More with it in the second. 5
Morrison: Switched from right to left relatively early. 5
Keillor-Dunn: Had an early shot on target. Capable of so much more. 4
Heskey: Brought little to the table and came off at the break. 4
Al-Hamadi: Handed a full league debut by Wednesday. Poor in first half, better after. One chance. 4
Substitutes: Burstow (Heskey HT). Possessed some threat and was a concern for Rovers. 6.
Grainger (Al-Hamadi 80).
Not used: Trueman, Fusire, Swinkels, Weaver.
