Egypt Forum 2026 will discuss ways to improve the transition from in-kind subsidies to cash support, including linking subsidy values to price movements and inflation rates to protect beneficiaries’ purchasing power, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Monday, October 12, 2026 .
The proposed measures aim to promote social justice and give citizens greater freedom to choose goods according to their actual needs, Madbouly said during a meeting to review the agenda of a session titled “A More Effective Social Protection System.”
The meeting was held as part of preparations for Egypt Forum 2026, scheduled to take place in the New Capital from October 19 to 24. It was attended by Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy, Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, National Organization for Social Insurance Chairman Gamal Awad, Assistant Finance Minister for the General Budget Ali el-Sisi, and officials from relevant ministries.
Madbouly said the meeting was the second workshop to review the planned session, which will examine government efforts to support various segments of society, particularly the most vulnerable and low-income groups.
He stressed that the discussions aim to listen carefully to citizens’ concerns and public opinion on an issue closely tied to their daily lives.
The government is committed to transparency and openness, Madbouly said, adding that the discussions would address challenges encountered in the social protection sector in recent years, as well as its objectives for the next phase.
The aim is to develop outcomes that can guide government decisions and help improve services provided to citizens, ultimately enhancing their quality of life and living conditions, he added.
