Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has apologised to her colleague, Laide Bakare, following the backlash over her reaction to Bakare’s name during a recent podcast interview, calling for peace between the two actresses.
Badmus tendered the apology in a statement posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, admitting that her reaction during an appearance on Isbae U’s ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ podcast may have appeared dismissive.
“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.
Addressing Bakare directly, the actress added, “Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace and I genuinely wish you well.”

Badmus also reflected on personal growth and the need to move beyond past disagreements, saying, “We’re all growing, learning and becoming better versions of ourselves. Sometimes maturity is simply knowing when to let go and move forward.”
She concluded her message with an appeal for reconciliation, writing, “Joo maa binu. No negativity. No grudges. Let love lead and peace reigns.”
The apology followed a viral clip from the podcast in which the host mentioned Bakare as one of his favourite actresses. Badmus was seen hissing and changing her facial expression in response to the mention, prompting reactions from social media users.

The incident renewed public attention on the longstanding rift between the actresses, who have had a series of public disagreements over the years.
In March 2024, Badmus appeared to take a swipe at Bakare over an outfit she wore to her book launch. Bakare had appeared in a white outfit with an orange cape, which attracted mixed reactions online.
Reacting to the outfit in a post on Instagram, Badmus wrote, “Ewo ninu yin lo wo Aso Pastor Ajidara. Abeg who??” The remark was widely interpreted as a reference to Bakare’s appearance.
Bakare subsequently expressed disappointment over the criticism, arguing that some colleagues focused on perceived flaws rather than celebrating her achievement. She also questioned why Badmus, whom she described as a childhood friend from their University of Ibadan days, had singled her out.
The host of the interview, Isbae U, reacted to Badmus’ apology, saying his interview would ‘fix Nigeria’.
Isbae U wrote: “Let love lead 👏 👏 Na my interview go fix Nigeria in whole , I love you both so much , You both should give me a kiss 😘 😘”.
