Hearts of Oak secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Port City FC in their Ghana Premier League Matchday Six encounter at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon. Frank Duku scored the decisive goal in the 20th minute to hand the Phobians all three points in a closely contested fixture. The forward’s early breakthrough proved enough for Hearts, who defended their advantage despite Port City’s attempts to find an equaliser. He headed home a brilliant cross to hand Nebojša Kapor's side an early advantage which they maintained throughout. Duku was later withdrawn in the 55th minute, with Kwasi Asmah coming on as Hearts looked to manage the game. Port City made several changes in search of a response, introducing Samuel Aryee Baabu before the interval and making further adjustments at the start of the second half.
However, the visitors were unable to find a way past the Hearts defence. Hearts also made changes in the second half, with Prince Amevor and Rockson Kyeremeh among those introduced. The closing stages became tense, and Kyeremeh was sent off in stoppage time after receiving a second yellow card in the 90th minute plus three. Despite finishing with 10 men, Hearts held on to claim their second league victory of the campaign. Kelvin Osei Asibey was named the NASCO Man of the Match for his performance in the Hearts defence. The result provides a boost for the Phobians as they continue their league campaign, while Port City leave Legon without a point after failing to convert their opportunities into a goal. Hearts have now accumulated 11 points from their first six games and sit just three points from league leaders Medeama SC who beat Heart of Lions 3-1 at home. Meanwhile, Port City are only point off the Phobians with 10 points in six matches.
