The ODM official urged Kenyans to disregard the online chatter, saying the senator remained very much alive despite the rumours suggesting otherwise.

"The party leader was unwell, but as we speak, he is recuperating well and is just resting. People should not kill him before his time. He's okay. Ignore the yellow journalism we are seeing everywhere trying to kill him, and yet he's so alive and kicking," Omanyo said.
She went on to reflect on the nature of public life and the pressure that comes with leading a political party at an advanced age, asking Kenyans to extend prayers rather than spread unverified claims.
"Actually, it is sad for us. We parade in churches every Sunday and pray and say some good things and look so holy, and then we just forget to put people in prayer. Every family, every institution has their challenges. Our party leader, at his age, age comes with some challenges, and he's got my age on his age. So if we are there, the younger people, we are carrying. It's not a must you see the party leader every day on the screen, but he's so alive and kicking," she said.
Oburu Oginga confirmed to be in Kenya
Omanyo also confirmed that Oburu was receiving treatment within the country, dismissing any suggestion that he had been taken abroad for medical care.
She added that she intended to visit the senator personally after the interview to check on him.
"In fact, after here, after the other interview, I'll go to just say hello. So he's within the country? He's okay. He is in Kenya," Omanyo said.
Oburu Oginga, who serves as Siaya senator and is a senior figure within ODM, is the brother of the late opposition leader Raila Odinga's family circle and has been a longstanding voice in Kenyan opposition politics.
