The accident occurred in September last year when the worker poured molten metal into a mold that turned out to be damp. The metal reacted and sprayed violently onto the worker.
According to prosecutors, the foundry, which manufactures aluminum parts, failed in its responsibility for the employee’s safety.
The company failed to conduct an adequate risk assessment, provide sufficient instructions on handling the molds or supply protective equipment such as full-face visors and heat-resistant clothing, according to the prosecutor.
The prosecutor is seeking a corporate fine of 300,000 SEK for the foundry.
