Morocco’s women’s national football team remains 64th worldwide in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking published Tuesday.
The Atlas Lionesses recorded two wins, two losses, and one draw during the polling period, moving to 1,384.71 points from the 1,402.24 registered in the June 2026 update.
Globally, Spain (1st) tightened their grip on the top spot following a successful two-match away series against the United States (2nd). Germany (3rd) completes the podium after winning both of its recent friendlies.
The sole change in the top 10 features Denmark climbing two places to 10th (their highest placement since 2010) following a win and a draw away to Canada (9th). Denmark’s ascent pushed the Netherlands down to 11th and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to 12th.
On the continental level, the Atlas Lionesses rank fourth in Africa. Nigeria dropped seven places to 43rd globally but remains first in the region, followed by South Africa (59th) and Cameroon (52nd). Cameroon, the newly crowned African champion, jumped nine places. Ghana fell five places to tie Morocco at 64th worldwide, completing the African top five.
The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, held in July and August, significantly impacted the standings, highlighted by Malawi’s historic surge of 49 places to 104th globally. As continental runners-up, the Malawians secured their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification on the back of an unprecedented point-gaining streak across tournament play and Olympic qualifiers.
Other major gainers include Tanzania (111th, up 11), Burkina Faso (109th, up nine), and Vanuatu (100th, up eight). Slovenia also hit a historic high, climbing two spots to 36th. Conversely, Egypt led the decliners, dropping 14 places to 113th following a winless group-stage exit at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, alongside Zimbabwe (136th, down nine) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (114th, down eight).
This ranking period incorporated results from 183 international fixtures, including friendlies alongside European and African qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
