Decathlon has launched a new Van Rysel E-EDR AF SRAM Apex electric road bike in Europe. This 12-speed model has a wireless derailleur and a Mahle motor with Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity.
A new Decathlon Van Rysel E-EDR AF SRAM Apex electric road bike has arrived. The 12-speed model shares many similarities with older models such as the E-EDR AF Shimano 105 Di2 2x12S e-bike. For example, these bikes have identical frames and are both powered by a Mahle X35 motor.
One element where the Van Rysel E-EDR AF SRAM Apex 1x12 e-bike differs from its predecessors is the wireless SRAM Apex XPLR derailleur. Decathlon suggests that the lack of a front derailleur in this single chainring system provides benefits like making it lighter and reducing maintenance. Another change is the Mahle Pulsar One display, which can show information like the battery charge level, the remaining range and the assistance level.
The Decathlon Van Rysel E-EDR AF SRAM Apex 1x12’s 250W 40 Nm Mahle motor can provide assistance at speeds up to 25 kph (~16 mph). The accompanying 250 Wh battery is said to provide up to 100 km (~62 miles) range, or up to 160 km (~100 miles) with an extender. Thanks to the Mahle X35’s support for ANT+ and Bluetooth, you can connect a phone or a bike computer from a brands including Garmin (Edge 540 curr. $349.99 at Amazon). This model features SRAM Apex hydraulic disc brakes (160 mm), a carbon fork and 32 mm wide tires. Plus, the electric bike has an aluminum frame, with the medium size weighing around 14 kg (~31 lbs).
You can now buy the Decathlon Van Rysel E-EDR AF SRAM Apex 1x12 e-bike in European countries like France, the Netherlands and Spain for €2,500. It is unclear whether or when this model could be released in the UK.

I've been interested in technology for as long as I can remember. From a young age, I have loved gadgets and understanding how things work. Since graduating, I have worked for several technology companies across FinTech, AdTech and Robotics.
