Italy brings together 'Friends of Cohesion' for talks on new EU budget

(ANSA) - ROME, 15 OTT - Italy on Thursday hosted a working breakfast of the 17 countries of the 'Friends of Cohesion' group for talks on the upcoming 2028-2034 EU multi-annual budget before European summit in Brussels. A meeting of the so-called "frugal" group of countries featuring Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Sweden, Finland, and Belgium took place at the same time. Rome is working to create e 'Friends of Cohesion' platform in view of the decisive stages of the negotiations on the multi-annual budget, including opposition to new budget cuts and rebates, support for the CAP and cohesion policies, ANSA sources said.
