Pope Leo XIV's surgeon told Vatican News on Saturday that there were 'no clinical reasons' to prevent the pontiff's planned trip to Latin America next month, days after he underwent lung cancer surgery. The Pope left hospital on Saturday and returned to the Vatican after having the lower lobe of his right lung removed on Tuesday in the first major health event of his 17-month pontificate. The surgery confirmed he had adenocarcinoma, the most common type of lung cancer.
