More than 10 million developers are now building on Cloudflare, the company said on Tuesday. That is up from 7.4 million a quarter earlier, a rise of about 35% in three months.
Cloudflare announced the figure in a press release and tied the growth to AI agents. Developers are using AI to write code and build apps faster, it said. Those apps increasingly serve agents as well as people.
“The software lifecycle is expanding from developers building for people to developers and agents building for people and agents,” said Rita Kozlov, Cloudflare’s vice president of product management.
From Workers to a full stack
Cloudflare’s developer business began nearly a decade ago with Workers, its serverless computing platform. Workers runs code in lightweight isolates rather than virtual machines or containers. The company now sells storage, databases, AI models, media, real-time services and monitoring on top of it.
Cloudflare has already used Workers to run a browser for AI agents. Its named products in the release include Workers AI, Workers KV, AI Gateway, Durable Objects, D1 and R2.
Agent traffic up 1,700%
Daily requests from AI agents on Cloudflare’s network grew by more than 1,700% in a year. The figure comes from a Cloudflare blog post. It said that this year, for the first time, more than half of internet traffic was not human.
Cloudflare has made similar points before. In July it said the web is now mostly bots. In September, chief executive Matthew Prince told The Verge that bot traffic could reach 1,000x human traffic.
The network now spans more than 340 cities in over 130 countries, according to the release. It connects with 13,888 networks. It has 590 terabits per second of external capacity.
“Developers don’t have to choose between speed, scale, and security,” said Dane Knecht, Cloudflare’s chief technology officer.
The release gave no revenue figure for the developer business and did not say how many of the 10 million developers pay.
