An actress mentioned her ex-boyfriend, who is a boy group member, sparking a heated debate.
On October 21st, a video titled “The Day I Get Barraged with Questions” was posted on YouTube.
A netizen asked actress Hwang Jung Eum, “Since breaking up with Yong Jun, have you ever bumped into him by chance?” Hwang Jung Eum coolly responded, “Not even once. I do miss Yong Jun a bit.”
Hwang Jung Eum and SG Wannabe‘s Kim Yong Jun began dating publicly in 2006 and broke up in 2015 after nine years. The couple had appeared on MBC’s We Got Married, sharing their dating life with the public, which made their breakup even more of a topic.
Hwang Jung Eum said, “Anyway, Yong Jun is a friend with many good memories. If we crossed paths on the street, we’d greet each other warmly.”
Netizens’ opinions on Hwang Jung Eum’s remarks were sharply divided. Some praised her for mentioning an ex so casually, saying it was refreshing to see, while others criticized her for lacking consideration in bringing it up publicly.
Supporters commented, “It’s much nicer to hear her naturally say his name and call him a good friend now,” and “Those are memories not only for them but also for us who watched.”
On the other hand, critics said, “Is it right to mention someone you’ve never even run into again?” “Why bring up someone who’s doing well?” and “From Kim Yong Jun’s perspective, it probably isn’t pleasant to be mentioned,” accusing Hwang Jung Eum’s remarks of being excessive.
