KUALA LUMPUR: Three people, including an activist, were remanded for three days to assist in investigations into the vandalism of four statues at a temple in Jalan Klang Lama on Oct 6.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the trio were arrested in Beranang, Selangor, on Oct 11 and released on police bail on Tuesday.
"Initial investigations found that four religious statues at the temple had been damaged. However, the value of the losses has yet to be established," he said in a statement.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 295 of the Penal Code.
Fadil added that the investigation papers had been referred to the Selangor State Prosecution Office for further action.
Earlier, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan had urged police to investigate after a video of the vandalism went viral.
