The Higher Committee for Mobilization and Popular Resistance in South Darfur State has formally assumed its duties, pledging to strengthen support for the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF)and the “Battle for Dignity,” which it describes as a campaign to defeat the rebellion and protect civilians.
The handover ceremony was attended by government and military leaders, as well as prominent community figures from the state.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, South Darfur State Governor Bashir Mursal said the committee was committed to uniting public and official efforts and mobilizing all available resources and capabilities in support of the armed forces.
“The committee will stand behind the military in the decisive battle to rid the country of rebel militias,” he stated. “We will continue fighting without retreat, even if it means sacrificing millions of martyrs to uphold their cause.”
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Yassir Adam Mohammed, head of the Higher Mobilization Committee, reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the “Battle for Dignity,” saying it would continue the struggle from where others had left off.
“The committee has outlined its work plan for the coming phase, focusing on organizing public mobilization, establishing communication channels with different sectors and local communities, directing logistical and community support towards frontline positions, and strengthening security and military coordination to consolidate stability and reassure residents,” he said.
The committee called on the people of South Darfur to thwart attempts by those spreading rumors and discord, and to rally behind the armed forces and other regular security forces.
“The determination of the Sudanese people and their armed forces would remain the strongest guarantee of protecting national sovereignty and the country’s unity,” the committee said.
