I've used my Galaxy Watch for more than three years, but I started exploring its features more seriously a few months ago. It wasn't a sudden interest; I started spending more time with it because I didn't buy anything new this year.
It was a blessing in disguise. I discovered many handy Galaxy Watch featuresthat I now use almost every day. However, I was happier about trying different watch faces than anything else.
I never changed the default watch face on my Galaxy Watch until a few months ago. Such was the level of reluctance, but it's in the past now.
I always look forward to trying new watch faces on my Galaxy Watch and comparing them. This motivation came after I successfully found some great watch faces while scouting the Google Play Store.
I found three watch faces that look as cool as they are useful.
Trex Retro gives my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic an old-school look
It focuses only on things that actually matter
The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic comes with several watch faces, but I didn't find any as interesting as Trex Retro. This was my first time using a Casio watch face, and I loved it on my Galaxy Watch.
It gives my watch a retro look, but that's not the only reason I rate it so highly. After you install and set it as your default watch face, you get everything important on the home screen.
A tap on the home screen reveals key data such as distance walked, steps, and pulse rate. These are health features, and they alone don't make an excellent watch face.
In its default setup, the Trex Retro gives me a shortcut to open all my important Calendar eventsand Alarms. You can also customize it to change the color and Dial Logo. Plus, you get the time and date.
What else could I ask from a watch face? With all its shortcuts, the watch face is useful, and its old-school look makes my watch cool.
Fallout Pip-Boy SE is the coolest watch face
It's a paid one, though
The Fallout Pip-Boy SE watch face is cooler than it's useful, but that doesn't make it any less useful than many of the preinstalled ones on the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
Pip-Boy offers plenty of useful information on your home screen. It shows weather information, battery percentage, heart rate, steps, and more.
All this information makes the home screen crowded, and that's the beauty of it. It looks clean without taking away features you'd need on your home screen, though I would love to add more complications. I certainly want more than two.
The Pip-Boy SE doesn't offer the full Pip-Boy interface, and I'm glad it doesn't because that would drain the battery faster. This Special Edition Pip-Boy watch face focuses on battery life while keeping the Pip-Boy vibe alive.
I also love the Vault Boy's animation in the watch face. My watch shows the Vault Boy changing animation. If you like Fallout, you'll love this watch face. This is the coolest one I've tried, though the watch face feels limited in some ways.
This can be a big deal for a lot of people, especially because it isn't free. If it isn't, you can buy a lifetime license from the Google Play Store for $2.
Ficture Reflecto Light is an underrated one
It has plenty of customization options
Of all the watch faces I tried recently, Ficture Reflecto Light is the most underrated.
One unique thing I liked was that, despite showing the time in numbers, it plays an animation that mimics the second hand on an analog clock. This is the coolest part of the watch.
The watch face also shows the notification icon, heart rate, distance covered, steps, and time and date. It is also highly customizable: you can change the background, time color, and seconds color.
Don't like the notification icon? You can replace that with something like a Calculator. You can do this from the Complication tab while customizing the watch face.
Ficture Reflecto Light is free for everyone.
These are the best I've tried so far
I'm looking forward to trying more watch faces on my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, but the above ones are the coolest and most useful I've used so far. I can recommend these three to anyone looking for a watch face that has both qualities.
I don't have three smartwatches, so I'm currently using only one on my Galaxy Watch. But I'll keep switching between them until I find another set of great watch facesfor my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
