Spread across 16 bighas and three kathas of land, the institution currently has 662 students enrolled across Classes VI to XII.
The school has 27 teaching staff members and four non-teaching staff members. It functions under the leadership of Principal Harichandra Saikia.
The Rs 7-crore investment is expected to strengthen the school’s infrastructure and support the learning needs of its students. The development comes as the institution continues its long-standing role in providing education to students in the Biswanath district.
Pegu shared details of the school’s infrastructure development on X, tagging the Union Education Ministry and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The school’s history dates back to 1944, while its upgrade to higher secondary status in 1975 marked a significant step in expanding its educational offerings. Its provincialisation in 1977 further established its place within Assam’s education system.
With 662 students currently enrolled, the school provides education across seven class levels, from Class VI to Class XII, including Arts and Science courses at the higher secondary stage.
