KUALA LUMPUR: A week into married life, Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and singer-actress Bella Astillah are happily settling into their new journey together as a blended family with her two children, Ayden and Ara.
Reflecting on his new life as a husband, Syed Saddiq shared that simple everyday moments—like having breakfast together, doing the school run, and spending quality time as a family—have brought him profound joy.
Speaking after their wedding reception at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) recently, he noted that these small routines have made the biggest difference.
"The biggest and most positive change is waking up to have my wife by my side, along with two children whom I can eat breakfast with and send to school," he said in a Berita Harian report today.
"When I come home, sometimes exhausted after a long day at Parliament, the kids are there to greet me. We can even work out together. It's these little things that bring about a massive transformation in life."
For Bella, the early days of marriage have been all about adjusting to life under one roof with Syed Saddiq and establishing new daily routines for their family of four.
"I moved into my husband's house with the kids, so we had to establish a new routine together. So far, praise be to God, everything has been going smoothly. We still have a long journey ahead, and I just hope for the best, God willing," she remarked.
Bella added that her husband's low-key lifestyle has made household chores much easier, particularly in the kitchen.
She admitted that while she initially expected to prepare heavy breakfasts like nasi lemak, Syed Saddiq actually prefers lighter options like Nestum during the week and pancakes at the weekend.
Despite their newfound domestic bliss, both affirmed that their careers remain firmly on track.
Syed Sadiq has returned to his parliamentary duties, while Bella continues to fulfill her singing and entertainment engagements.
At the heart of their new life is the well-being of Ayden and Ara. Bella shared a touching moment from their reception when her eldest son, Ayden, gave a speech with impressive confidence in front of the guests.
"As a mother, my children's happiness is my main priority. I want Ayden to go to school with peace of mind because children's emotions are very fragile. I am deeply grateful to see him speak so confidently while looking at me and his daddy. In many of our past videos, he would often cry, so seeing him so genuinely happy makes me feel extremely thankful," she said.
Syed Saddiq described Ayden's speech as one of the highlights of the evening, admitting that no speech of his own could match the courage shown by the nine-year-old. He also praised Bella for raising such well-mannered children.
As for a honeymoon, the couple have put plans on hold due to Syed Saddiq's parliamentary commitments, which run until December.
Joking that his immediate "destination" is Parliament, the politician revealed that long trips will have to wait until the session ends. In the meantime, they intend to make the most of short weekend getaways with the children.
"People often imagine that a honeymoon needs to be somewhere far away or atmospheric. But it really isn't about the location," Syed Saddiq said.
"If you are with the right person, anywhere can be the best honeymoon spot. I have the best partner and two wonderful kids. Wherever we go, it will surely be a cherished memory."
