Charges Against the Infrastructure CECM
MCA for Kiamaina Paul Waweru Warege moved the notice of motion against Eng. Karanja, citing gross constitutional violations and incompetence.
Warege told the assembly that Karanja entered into a road rehabilitation programme with the National Youth Service (NYS) without establishing that the prices charged for goods, works and services were fair, reasonable and comparable to prevailing market rates.
"The CECM failed to produce and submit the memorandum entered into between the county government and NYS," Warege said.
The MCA also accused Karanja of converting electric street lighting to solar across the county without the required policy framework approved by the county assembly, and of allegedly interfering with the autonomy of the city board and the municipal boards of Molo and Naivasha.
Education CECM and Roads Chief Officer Face Separate Motions
MCA for Viwandani Joseph Mwangi Muraya moved the notice of motion against Zipporah Wambui, accusing her of serious incompetence in the handling of the second tranche disbursement for the 2025/26 financial year.
Muraya further alleged that Wambui persistently used public office and resources to advance her personal political ambitions, creating a conflict of interest and constituting abuse of authority.
Wambui has publicly indicated her intention to contest the woman representative seat, a declaration that appears to have deepened tensions with assembly members.
MCA for Turi Mwangi Macharia tabled the motion against Chief Officer Kennedy Mungai, citing criminal charges arising from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) related proceedings and investigations that, according to the MCA, raise serious questions about Mungai's integrity and suitability to continue in office.
Macharia also accused Mungai of repeatedly ignoring county assembly summons, thereby undermining legislative oversight.
"The chief officer has continued to implement inequitable implementation of the road projects across the county with significant disparities with some wards reporting zero while others record high activities," Macharia said.
The tabling of the three motions on the same day lays bare long-running friction between the county assembly and the executive arm of the Nakuru County Government, a standoff observers say has been building for several years.
