Barau FC have received a major injury boost with the return of midfielder Hilary Ekawu ahead of their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, match against Rivers United, DAILY POST reports.
Ekawu has been sidelined for two months due to an undisclosed injury but is now back in contention as Barau FC seek to return to winning ways.
The midfielder’s return comes after Barau FC failed to secure victories in their last two fixtures against reigning NPFL champions Rangers and Bendel Insurance.
Speaking to Mochado TV , Ekawu expressed his delight at returning to the squad and pledged to make up for the time he spent on the sidelines.
“I feel very happy to be back with the team after two months’ absence due to injury,” he said.
“The good side is that the team have been doing very well, with just one defeat in eight games, and I am really happy to join them again.
“It has psychological effects on me seeing my team do well while I am on the sidelines. But now that I am back, the fans should expect more goals and assists to complement the team.”
Ekawu’s return is expected to strengthen Barau FC’s attacking options as they prepare for a challenging encounter against Rivers United.
Barau FC will face Rivers United in a Matchday Nine fixture at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt this weekend, as they look to get their campaign back on track.
