The airline's operations in the group of islands date back four years, beginning with a first flight to Nuremberg. Since then, the low-cost carrier has set up a base in the archipelago, having had two aircraft based there, an investment in the local economy of $200 million, which supports more than 580 direct and indirect jobs and improves Madeira's year-round links with the rest of Portugal and Europe, all at low fares.
For the winter period of 2026, the airline's complete schedule consists of 64 flights each week on five strategic routes. The service is intended to establish links between Madeira and major tourism source markets and popular destinations, including Ireland, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Malta and Poland, with tickets obtainable through the airline's official app and website, at a starting price of 24.99 euros.
On this achievement, Jade Kirwan, Ryanair's Director of Communications, stated the company's excitement about having reached the figure of three million passengers transported at Madeira Airport since services started four years ago. She pointed out that this milestone is a clear indication of the continued demand on the part of both residents and visitors of Madeira for the low fares, the wide range of routes, and the industry-leading reliability that the airline provides.
Mrs. Kirwan also mentioned that, with 64 flights per week on five routes this winter—linking the area to important tourism destinations such as Spain, Malta, and Poland—the company is looking forward to welcoming many more passengers in the years to come. Furthermore, the company has indicated that its full winter 2026 flight programme is now available for booking via its official digital channels.
