In April 2025, a 65-year-old man received a suspended sentence and was fined 40,000 kronor (about $3,800) for unlawful stalking after stalking Frida Karlsson for several years. Among other things, he called the ski star 207 times, left dozens of voicemails and sent dozens of text messages.
In August, he was indicted again.
Posting afterwards
According to the indictment, the man violated the contact ban by once again trying to contact Karlsson and someone close to her.
It’s not a dream situation. There will be a trial four days before the premiere, and that’s not desirable. But it is what it is, says Karlsson.
Frida Karlsson is active on social media, mainly Instagram, where she has 439,000 followers. Her posts often have a personal touch, but given the situation, she avoids posting in real time.
“Yes, I think about what I post. I haven’t posted anything from home, for example. It’s more when I’m away or I post afterwards,” she says.
She continues:
I don’t want to be affected by it, but at the same time I don’t want to give him or anyone else the opportunity to get too close.
“Can recognize me”
Ebba Andersson is not only a colleague of Frida Karlsson on the national team. She is also a close friend who has supported Karlsson when things have been at their most difficult.
“I think the most important thing is to have a genuine interest in how she’s doing. I can’t completely relate to having a stalker of that caliber. But I’m also a public figure, and I can relate to what it’s like when people take a few too many liberties,” she says.
“Want to be a role model”
Frida Karlsson, who was surprised at the national ski team’s press conference on Tuesday by an Italian delegation that named her an honorary citizen of Val di Fiemme because of her successes there, has no plans to shut down her Instagram account.
I’m a period person. I can be offline for three months and then come back strong with three posts in three days. It’s good to be visible, not least financially. But for me, it’s also important to convey my personality. It’s nice to be a present role model, not least for the younger ones, she says.
