No further action will be taken against the wife of the Prime Minister's national security adviser after she was accused of backing the banned protest group Palestine Action.
Sarah Helm, who is married to Jonathan Powell, posted on X last week: 'God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action.'
She was responding to a post by Irish author Sally Rooney, who has said she cannot sell her books in the UK over her backing for the group.
Membership or support for Palestine Action could result in up to 14 years in prison.
The Metropolitan Police said on Friday that the post was being assessed, but yesterday a spokesman said: 'It was determined that it did not meet the criminal threshold. No further action will be taken.'
The Campaign Against Antisemitism had called on the police to investigate Ms Helm, a journalist and author.
The group said Ms Helm's post 'raises extremely serious questions for Jonathan Powell'.
Downing Street has distanced itself from Ms Helm's remarks. A spokesman said: 'These views are held by an individual who does not represent the Government in any capacity.'
