Pros
- Deep heel cup
- Flexible EVA midsole
- Easy to step into with open back
- Received APMA Seal of Acceptance
Cons
- Would be more supportive with a closed heel
“My favorite supportive slippers are from Vionic, as they offer a great mix of support and comfort,” says podiatrist Bradley Schaeffer, DPM. This slipper is also a favorite of mine, thanks to its incredible level of cushioning. It keeps my feet pain-free even after walking in it all day.
This style’s claim to fame is the adjustable closure on the upper of the shoe, which makes it feel like your foot is being hugged, and a padded footbed for added comfort. Plus, it features a flexible EVA midsole that provides maximum arch support, helping reduce stress on the feet, ankles, and knees, Roach says. Plus, that adjustable strap on the outside of the slipper offers a customized fit, so your foot doesn’t slide around during wear. It’s no wonder this slipper earned an APMA Seal of Acceptance!
What makes this pair stand out, though, is that it has an open back, so it’s a bit easier to step into than the Kuru pair. However, that means it doesn’t provide as much heel support, but I feel that the extra stability from the deep heel cup helps make up for it.

Pros
- Super comfortable memory foam insole
- Raised heel cup for security
- Easy-on and off slip-on style
Cons
- Not great for outdoor use
For an affordable, ultra-cozy house slipper, the Dearfoams Lacey Memory Foam Slipper has quickly become my go-to. At under $30, it’s noticeably plusher, warmer, and more supportive than most budget slippers I’ve tried, and I’ve been wearing them nonstop since I first snagged them about three months ago.
The standout feature is the memory foam cushioning, says Anne Sharkey, DPM, a podiatrist at Solely Podiatry in Austin, TX. It molds to my foot for a genuinely plush, cloud-like feel, paired with a fleece lining that keeps feet warm without overheating. I especially appreciate the heel and arch cushioning after long days on my feet. Plus, the soft knit upper gives it a lounge-all-day vibe that pairs perfectly with pajamas and sweatpants.
While it’s strictly an indoor slipper, the raised heel helps it stay securely on my foot—even while running up and down the stairs—and the durable outsole can handle quick trips to grab the mail or packages.

Pros
- Holds the heel in place
- Raised arch naturally positions the foot for better support
- Has many support features
Cons
- Heavier than other options on this list
This moccasin from Kuru is designed specifically for people dealing with foot or body pain, or anyone looking for extra support in a slipper. It offers the support of an orthopedic sneaker while still providing the cozy comfort of a slipper, thanks to its cushy faux fur lining.
The pain relief in this slipper comes from the insole, which features a deep heel cup and built-in arch support. “The heel-holding feature absorbs shock as you move, reducing pressure and easing foot pain,” says Roach. “This is especially beneficial when walking on hard surfaces.” As for the contoured arch support, it’s a game-changer for people with foot issues like plantar fasciitis. Roach says that the deep heel cup and raised arch naturally position your feet for better posture and support. Putting your feet in this position helps distribute weight evenly, relieving strain on the arches and improving lower body alignment.
This shoe is def a bit heavier than other options on this list, so it might feel less light on the feet than some of the other options. However, its supportive features make it worth the chunkier feel.

Pros
- Roomy toe box
- Super comfortable memory foam insole
- Easy-on-easy-off
Cons
- Light color shows dirt easily
This stylish mule slipper from Bombas is easily one of the chicest casual shoes in my rotation. The elongated oval toe and allover sherpa give it a cozy-but-polished look that works just as well for couch days as it does for coffee runs. I wear mine with everything from wide-leg lounge pants and leggings to cropped jeans.
Bombas nailed the cushioning here, Sharkey says. Thanks to a plush memory foam footbed that contours to the foot and softens impact with every step, this slipper is super comfortable and also helps it stay put while walking. Though Sharkey says the backless designs can still slip if you’re not careful—something to consider if you need maximum security. “Whether I’m doing housework (ya know, the mind-clearing Sunday deep clean) or getting ready for the day, I can always count on the Sunday Slippers when I’m on my feet,” says style contributor Lily Wohlner. “They’re the first pair I pick up when I’m in need of extra support.”
However, Wohlner wouldn’t recommend getting the lighter color (cream) because it shows dirt really easily, just like any white shoes would. After a few months, hers looked almost grey, so she switched to the dark caramel shade (the pair I own!) and hasn't had any issues since.

Pros
- Super stylish
- Foam footbed keeps your foot in a comfortable position
- Wool interior regulates temperature
Cons
- Doesn't have the most support features on this list
I was worried this shoe would make my feet feel super hot if I wore it for too long, but it’s been the opposite. Even though the inside looks like a thick, furry fabric, it's actually a blended fleece made from upcycled wool, which naturally regulates temperature. Wool releases moisture from your skin, and fleece is also moisture-wicking, so my feet stay cool and comfortable no matter how long I wear this cozy slipper.
Wohlner also loves this pair, giving it major brownie points for style. “It’s my favorite when I want to feel put together and extra chic—even when I’m just lounging at home,” she says. “But don’t get it twisted, it still has solid support.” The MVP here is the platform sole, which makes it feel more supportive and cushioned. It also has a foam footbed, which keeps your foot in a comfortable position and offers weight distribution, helpful if you tend to feel a bit wobbly walking in a platform shoe.
Plus, if you want to wear it outside, you totally can—the bottom of the shoe is made with a lightweight sugarcane EVA outsole, which, IMO, feels similar to rubber and has awesome traction.

Pros
- Cork footbed molds to your unique foot shape
- Extremely supportive
- Durable enough to wear outside
Cons
- Not very plush or cozy
A few months ago, I desperately needed a new house slipper. So I decided to snag this pair from Fulton—and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. While you could totally get away with wearing this slipper outside (it’s super cute and definitely sturdy), I love keeping this pair inside and free from outside germs—IYKYK.
At first, I honestly wasn’t sure this pair would be a winner: the footbed was super uncomfortable the first day that I wore them. It felt like all the raised areas were in the wrong places, which made it a little difficult to walk. Had I known then that the Fulton website explains there’s a 10-hour break-in process, I’d have been way less concerned.
Lo and behold, by the following day the slippers felt much better—and only continued to get more comfortable as the cork footbed molded to the exact shape of my foot. I wouldn’t call this slipper plush by any means (though the wool upper is quite cozy), so if that’s what you’re looking for, the Vionic, Dearfoams, or Orthofeet styles might be better options. But this shoe makes my feet feel so good.
I’ve been suffering from some pretty gnarly foot pain from recently developed plantar fasciitis, but since I started wearing this slipper around the house every day, my feet feel brand new. My arches and heels feel way less achy throughout the day, and it no longer hurts to plant my feet on the ground first thing in the morning.

If you need a slipper with serious arch support, the Orthofeet Charlotte Slipper delivers. Plus, it comes with additional insoles and spacers for days when my feet need extra support.
The Ortho-Cushion system (which includes the removable orthotic insole, ergonomic sole, and fitting spacers) helps to customize the fit and level of cushioning and support. I didn’t realize before selecting my normal size that Orthofeet recommends ordering a half-size down for a more snug fit, but placing the smallest blue fitting spacer (1/16 inch) under the insole kept my foot feeling super secure. Even without any customization, I was impressed by the high level of cushioning that hugs my arches and feels really nice under my heels. The ergonomic sole not only has ample cushioning underfoot, but also the subtle “rocker” design, which refers to a little lift under the heel and toe so those two parts of the shoe don’t touch the ground when standing still, similar to a rocking chair. That shape propels you forward with each step and also helps take some pressure off the joints. Plus, the EVA outsole also has lots of traction patterns to keep every step feeling stable and secure.
I also love the faux fur lining and insole that feels super cozy and keeps my feet warm even while walking outdoors on chilly mornings. The suede outer adds to that cozy vibe and looks super cute. I initially wasn’t sure if this slipper would be my style, but I find myself reaching for it all the time when I leave the house for quick errands and coffee dates with friends. I have the taupe color and often pair it with ankle jeans and sweaters for a comfortable fall fit.
While it does run slightly small, the brand offers half sizes, and the slipper comes with customizable features, so I didn’t find it an issue at all. However, if you’re concerned about fit, I recommend ordering a half size down.

Pros
- Great for those that stand all day
- They help with cramping, aches, and stiffness
- Built-in arch support technology
Cons
- Not the best for wider feet
Hearst food producer Tina Martinez is on her feet for eight-plus hours every day, moving around the test kitchen at a rapid pace. But thanks to her Kane Dansko Clogs, her legs never hurt at the end of a long work day. “I started wearing these 15 years ago, and they have made such a huge difference,” she says.
According to Martinez, this slipper-clog hybrid provides just the right amount of style, comfort, and stability for someone who is non-stop and always on the go. “When I don't wear it, I notice a huge difference in how my body feels—aches, stiffness, cramping—and it's just not worth it at the end of the day.”
Where the support comes in is with the Dansko Natural Arch technology, which is an arch stabilizer in the midsole of the shoe that offers support, stability, and shock absorption. This shoe is also super breathable, as it has perforations in the upper. And, because the shoe is mostly made from EVA, a plastic material that's known for being lightweight, flexible, and durable, they feel super lightweight, too.
It only comes in one width—regular—so it might not be the best fit if you have wider feet. And since the material isn't very soft, it doesn't have much stretch, which can make it tougher for people with bunions or wider feet to wear comfortably.
