In a video shared by TMZ, the event, held at St. John's Downtown Church in Midtown Houston, marked the completion of a years-long charitable project backed by Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland, who donated over $8 million alongside Bread of Life Inc.
Together, they built 31 permanent supportive housing units for people experiencing chronic homelessness. Residents are set to begin moving in on 1 November, with access to mental health counselling, substance use treatment, life skills training and food services.

The site itself carries deep history. The original Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth was established in 1999, funded in part by Destiny's Child earnings. Hurricane Harvey badly damaged the centre in 2017, and a fire finished it off in 2021. Rather than walk away, the team chose to rebuild it into something permanent.
The moment that went viral
Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, 14, Rumi and Tina Knowles all stood on stage alongside Kelly Rowland, 45, as speeches were delivered. When Rowland grew emotional and raised her hand to wipe away tears during her thank-you to donors and organisers, both girls were watching. They immediately moved to comfort her in a warm, instinctive gesture that a fan captured on video and posted to X.
"The way and comforted from crying. I can't take this!" read the on-screen caption on the clip, which spread rapidly across social media. For many viewers, it was the clearest look at Rumi they had seen since Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour film, and the reaction was one of collective surprise at how much she had grown.
Blue Ivy, who at 14 now reportedly towers over her mother, was also praised for her composure throughout the event. But it was Rumi's quiet maturity, not her sister's height or poise, that dominated the conversation online.
Beyoncé's emotional connection to the church
Beyoncé spoke candidly about what the location means to her personally.
"This church was our foundation. I was baptized right here. I made the choice on my own to be baptized because I felt the spirit here, and I feel the spirit right now. And I'm so grateful for that foundation," she said, as quoted by the Houston Chronicle.
Tina Knowles reflected on how the church shaped the empathy her daughters carry with them, while Kelly Rowland expressed gratitude to Houston for always welcoming the family home.
For Houston, the Knowles-Rowland House represents 31 new opportunities at stability. For fans watching from afar, Tuesday offered a rare and touching glimpse of a young girl stepping quietly into the public eye, not through performance, but through a small, sincere moment of compassion.
