District title races are starting to take form after some key results in Week 8 of the Central Texas high school football season.
Cedar Park defeated Vandegrift 23-10 and will be a heavy favorite to win its next two games and finish the regular season undefeated, along with taking the District 24-6A title.
Bastrop took a big step toward the District 12-5A Division II title with a 30-25 win over Pflugerville. Like Cedar Park, the Bears will be strong favorites in their final three games.
And in what was essentially the District 26-6A championship game, Dripping Springs routed Bowie 56-14.
Legacy Ranch continued a strong first year with a 15-9 win over New Braunfels, which may have put the Wranglers in the playoffs out of District 13-5A Division II. If San Antonio Veterans Memorial loses any of its final three games, Legacy Ranch will be in the postseason.
In Week 9, Westlake travels to Lake Travis in a District 25-6A matchup and Lago Vista hosts Wimberley in a District 14-4A Division II showdown to highlight the Austin-area matchups.
