Abubakar M. Dalibi, a loyalist of former Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Social Media in Gombe State, has resigned from the party and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dalibi announced his resignation from both the PDP and his position as the party’s social media chairman in a video posted on his Facebook page, pledging to work for the success of the APC and its governorship candidate, Dr Jamilu Ishiyaku Gwamna, in the 2027 election.
His defection came less than 24 hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) explained its position on the Supreme Court judgment affecting the candidacy of Professor Isa Ali Pantami, the PDP’s governorship candidate in the state.
In the video, Dalibi expressed appreciation to the PDP for giving him the opportunity to serve the party for a long time, wishing it well despite his decision to leave.
He also declared his commitment to working for the success of the APC and Gwamna, signalling his new political allegiance ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Dalibi joined the APC through Engineer Aliyu Muhammad Combat, although details of the defection were not immediately available.
His departure comes amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the PDP’s governorship candidacy following legal developments over Pantami’s nomination.
The defection marks a fresh political development in Gombe State as political parties and their supporters reposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
