Ex-Celtic man’s nightmare start at new club continues.
Former Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi saw his nightmare start at new club LA Galaxy continue on Sunday night after he was forced off with a muscle problem in their 6-2 defeat by St Louis City.
Furuhashi, 31, was a major fan favourite during his time at Parkhead, scoring 85 goals in all competitions and winning nine major trophies before leaving for Rennes for a £10million fee in January 2025. He has struggled to replicate his Celtic form since leaving, though, with his spell in Ligue 1 lasting just six months before he moved to Birmingham City in the EFL Championship.
He scored just three times for the Blues, though, and after failing to reignite his career in the Midlands last season, he completed a cut-price £1million move to MLS outfit LA Galaxy, signing a five-year deal in July. However, his goal-scoring troubles have followed him across the pond.

The Japan international has now failed to find the net in any of his first 11 games for the Galaxy after being forced off the field early in the 6-2 defeat at Energizer Park. His last strike came in a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday for Birmingham on January 20, meaning Furuhashi has gone 256 days without a goal or an assist.
Carlo Holse opened the scoring after just two minutes, and the Galaxy went further behind five minutes later when the Danish winger got his second of the game, before he completed a remarkable first-half hat-trick on the 21-minute mark.
Robert Taylor pulled one back for the away side just after the half-hour mark, but a Rafael Navarro penalty followed by a Lukas MacNaughton strike on the cusp of the break put St Louis City into a commanding 5-1 lead. Navarro added a sixth goal in the 53rd minute. Joao Klauss grabbed a consolation goal with little under twenty minutes remaining.
Staying with the MLS, Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn faces a fight to keep his number one spot at San Jose Earthquakes after an outstanding performance from his understudy Earl Edwards Jr. in their 1-1 draw with Colorado Rapids in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Deputising for Gunn after his international exploits earlier this week, Edwards Jr. kept his San Jose in the game, pulling off several stunning saves after David Romney’s left-footed drive had levelled the scores at Dick's Sporting Goods Park just before the hour mark.
Making nine saves in total, his spectacular save denied Colorado's Darren Yapi from close range in the 86th minute, and some MLS pundits believe Gunn could have a battle on his hands to regain the number one spot.
“They had a number of good chances and Earl Edwards did an outstanding job in the goal in the second half,” said San Jose head coach Bruce Arena. “But our team came back and fought hard and got an important point. So, you know, we move forward. To come here and get a point, and even at the end of the game, having a possibility of winning the game was a really good effort by our team.”
Sunday night’s results leave San Jose in in fourth place in the MLS Western Conference, while Los Angeles Galaxy cling onto ninth spot after their thumping defeat to St Louis City.
