Aizawl, Oct 17: The Public Works Department (PWD) of Mizoram has initiated the disbursement of supplementary compensation amounting to ₹7.4 crore for landowners impacted by the construction of the Aizawl bypass between Sihhmui and Muallungthu.
Officials confirmed that 185 landowners are set to receive the payments, with the process being carried out by the PWD’s project implementation unit. The disbursement is expected to be completed by October 23.
This move follows recent warnings from the Aizawl Bypass Road Western Side Landowners Welfare Association, which had threatened to halt road construction from November 1 if compensation demands were not met. The latest payout aims to ease tensions and ensure the continuation of the project.
