Accordingly, the country has been divided into four groups, with each group scheduled to experience a one-hour power interruption daily between 4.30 p.m. and 9.00 p.m.
The approved demand management schedules have been released for October 19, 20 and 21, outlining the power interruption periods for each group.
For today (19), Group 1 will experience a one-hour power cut beginning between 4.30 p.m. and 5.00 p.m., Group 2 between 5.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m., Group 3 between 6.30 p.m. and 7.00 p.m., and Group 4 between 7.30 p.m. and 8.00 p.m.

According to the schedules, the power cuts will be implemented if the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is required to manage electricity demand due to insufficient generation capacity resulting from the unavailability of the Lakvijaya Power Station following a blackout.
The authorities stated that the interruption and restoration times may vary by up to 30 minutes, depending on electricity demand, available generation capacity and prevailing weather conditions.
Earlier today, National System Operator (NSO) Company Chief Executive Officer Buddhika Samarasinghe announced that approval had been sought from the PUCSL to implement one-hour power cuts from October 19 to 21. (Newswire)
