Two Saint Lucians, Kerry Edwards and McGavin Willie, both 31, were sentenced and fined at the Serious Offences Court in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines recently for drug-related offences, according to media reports.
The two men were sentenced for possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply it to another person, drug trafficking, and importation of a controlled drug.

The sentences were handed down as a result of 20 974 grammes of cannabis resin and an additional 3 632 grammes of cannabis that were reportedly found in the men’s possession.
Edwards and Willie received $32 660 worth of fines each for the offences.
According to reports, the drug bust that implicated the two men came after Vincentian police were strategically positioned to monitor a blue barrel at the New Kingstown Port. Officers reportedly followed a truck that transported the barrel to a residence in Arnos Vale, where it was delivered.
After obtaining a search warrant, police surrounded the property and reportedly saw Edwards and Willie in the kitchen removing items from the barrel and placing them on the floor.
A search of the barrel reportedly uncovered several sealed packages concealed in cereal boxes. Some contained cannabis, while others contained hashish.
Officers also reportedly found 77 packages of hashish concealed in peanut butter jars, bedsheets, cereal boxes, and a mop box.
When questioned, the men reportedly said they were on vacation, had no knowledge of the drugs, and had been asked by someone who dropped off the barrel to go through its contents.
Both men had arrived in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on October 8.
If they fail to pay the fines, they will face three years in prison.
