The unranked Auburn Tigers went into Athens and stunned No. 1 Georgia 27-24 in SEC college football action on Saturday evening at Sanford Stadium. Auburn was a three-touchdown underdog.
Senior kicker Alex McPherson — brother of Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evan McPherson — nailed a 34-yard field goal to walk it off for Auburn.
Dave Pasch and Dusty Dvoracek had the Auburn-Georgia television call for ESPN.
Here’s how the walk-off field goal looked and sounded on the ESPN broadcast:
“AND THE KICK IS GOOD! AUBURN HAS TAKEN DOWN NO. 1 GEORGIA! ONE OF THE GREAT UPSETS OF 2026!”

On Auburn radio, the booth understandably went absolutely wild as McPherson cemented the upset win.
Andy Burcham and former Tigers quarterback Jason Campbell delivered the radio commentary on the Auburn Sports Network:
“IT’S GOOD. IT’S GOOD. AUBURN HAS DONE IT!”

Burcham: “The kick is GOOD! IT’S GOOD! IT’S GOOD! AUBURN HAS DONE IT! THE TIGERS WIN AT NO. 1 GEORGIA! LET THE TOILET PAPER FLY AT TOOMER’S CORNER! AUBURN UPSETS NO. 1! FINAL SCORE: AUBURN 27, GEORGIA 24!”
Campbell: “Auburn, you have done it! Nobody gave you guys a chance! People were saying Auburn is gonna lose 42-10! You have come back in here, and you have reset the rivalry! In the Deep South; oldest rivalry! You come on the field and beat the No. 1 team in their backyard! War Eagle!”
It’s an absolutely massive win for an Auburn program that entered 2026 with five straight losing seasons. Now, the Tigers are 4-2 (2-2 in SEC play), in Alex Golesh’s first year as head coach.
