Week 6 injury news leaves fantasy managers with some significant decisions heading into another round of bye weeks. Several pass catchers need monitoring, while the Philadelphia Eagles now face the rest of the season without their starting quarterback. A few players will benefit from extra recovery time, but others could force managers to find immediate replacements. Here’s what we know and how I’m approaching the fantasy fallout.
Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts has been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, meaning blood clots have traveled to arteries in both lungs. It’s a scary situation, although his long-term prognosis is positive. Hurts will miss the remainder of the season.
Tanner McKee will start the rest of the way and needs to be rostered in Superflex leagues. Hurts can be dropped in redraft leagues.
Davante Adams, WR, Los Angeles Rams
Davante Adams pulled up on a route late in the fourth quarter without any contact and appeared to reach for his knee. We don’t yet know exactly what the Los Angeles Rams wide receiver injured or how serious it is.

The play didn’t look like a typical knee ligament injury, but the mechanism alone can’t rule anything out. Adams is 33 years old, and any new leg injury is concerning. We should get more clarity soon, but fantasy managers need to prepare for the possibility of missed time.
Rashod Bateman, WR, Baltimore Ravens
Rashod Bateman suffered a shoulder injury in the same week Ja’Kobi Lane returned. The Baltimore Ravens wide receiver already wasn’t a viable fantasy starter whenever Zay Flowers was healthy, and Lane’s return adds more competition for opportunities.
Regardless of how serious the shoulder injury proves to be, Bateman no longer needs to occupy a spot on fantasy rosters. He can be dropped.
Romeo Doubs, WR, New England Patriots
Romeo Doubs hurt his shoulder on his only catch, an impressive 42-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and did not return. We’ll need to monitor his practice participation throughout the week to assess his Week 7 availability.
Even when healthy, the New England Patriots wide receiver remains a volatile fantasy option, especially with A.J. Brown back. The touchdown was nice, but it doesn’t change how difficult Doubs is to trust in weekly lineups.
Ladd McConkey, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Ladd McConkey finally appeared to be past his foot injury, only to suffer a concussion early in Sunday’s game. The Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver will need to clear the protocol before returning.
Fortunately, the Chargers have a Week 7 bye, giving McConkey additional recovery time without costing him another game. I expect him to be ready for Week 8, although concussion recoveries are unpredictable and he’ll still need clearance.
Dalton Kincaid, TE, Buffalo Bills
Dalton Kincaid suffered a rib injury in the second half and went to the locker room, but he was able to return. That’s an encouraging sign for the Buffalo Bills tight end.
With Buffalo on bye in Week 7, Kincaid has extra time to recover. Barring an unexpected negative update, I would expect him to be ready for Week 8.
