Colombo, Oct. 15 (Daily Mirror) - Several roads in Colombo have been flooded following heavy rainfall, while adverse weather conditions are expected to continue across several parts of the country, with the Department of Meteorology warning of heavy showers, strong lightning and possible temporary strong winds.
Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in most parts of the Western and Southern Provinces due to changes in the prevailing wind pattern, the department said.
Showers or thundershowers exceeding 75 mm are likely in some areas of the Sabaragamuwa, Central and North Central Provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Kurunegala districts.
A strong lightning warning has also been issued for the North Central, Eastern, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, along with the districts of Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Gampaha, Colombo and Kurunegala.
The public has been urged to take precautions against lightning strikes and temporary strong winds that may occur during thundershowers.
Motorists travelling through Colombo and other affected areas are advised to exercise caution due to flooded roads and reduced visibility.
