Niccolò Pisilli had a magical night on Tuesday. Roma won 4-0 against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League, and he scored the goal that made it 3-0, wearing the captain’s armband that Pellegrini had handed him just minutes before.
It was an unforgettable moment. From a young player struggling for playing time to a stable asset for Gian Piero Gasperini: this has been the evolution of the number 61, who is solidifying his role in the Giallorossi project.
Niccolò Pisilli nearly left Roma. In the first half of last season, the Giallorossi midfielder was almost never considered by Gasperini, who only gave him a chance to shine in the second half of the season.
Corriere dello Sport revealed a background story: between the winter and summer, the Roman club rejected at least three offers, deemed unsuitable, thus resisting the temptation to make an easy capital gain.
