Gilberto Mora Fuels Liverpool Transfer Speculation With Response to Fan
Liverpool’s reported pursuit of Gilberto Mora has taken another intriguing turn after the Mexican teenager appeared to acknowledge a supporter calling for him to move to Anfield.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has attracted considerable attention across European football, with Liverpool reportedly among several leading clubs monitoring his development.
Now, a brief interaction captured on video has generated fresh excitement among supporters, although questions remain over whether the Reds are genuinely close to securing his signature.
Gilberto Mora Responds to Liverpool Supporter
According to DaveOCKOP, footage circulating on X shows a supporter approaching Mora while holding a Liverpool shirt and shouting “Liverpool” towards the youngster.
Mora appears to respond with a thumbs-up, an apparently harmless gesture that has quickly become a talking point among Liverpool fans.
Naturally, supporters are interpreting the exchange as a potentially encouraging indication of where his future might lie.

There is, however, considerable room for interpretation. Footballers regularly acknowledge supporters wearing shirts from different clubs, and a friendly gesture offers little evidence of negotiations or personal preferences.
What makes this particular exchange interesting is the existing speculation surrounding Liverpool’s interest.
Liverpool Transfer Interest in Mexican Wonderkid
Mora has established himself as one of Mexico’s most exciting emerging footballers since making his senior debut for Club Tijuana at just 15.
His technical ability, attacking intelligence and confidence in possession have attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Liverpool have reportedly explored a potential deal worth approximately £37 million, although there has been no official confirmation of an offer.
Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been linked with the midfielder, illustrating the level of competition Liverpool could face.
ESPN journalist Leon Lecanda previously suggested that a ‘historic agreement’ involving a major European club might be announced on October 14, Mora’s 18th birthday.
That date passed without the anticipated announcement, leaving considerable uncertainty surrounding his next destination.
Gilberto Mora Agent Remains Silent on Transfer Claims
Mora’s representative, Rafaela Pimenta, has maintained a firm position when questioned about the teenager’s future.
“Please understand that I don’t comment on transfer rumours. I won’t say anything at all about the transfer of any player. Thank you very much for your understanding,” she said.
Her response provides little indication of how advanced any discussions might be.
From Liverpool’s perspective, the financial considerations are significant. Spending £37 million on an 18-year-old represents a substantial investment, particularly when competing priorities elsewhere in the squad must also be considered.
Why Gilberto Mora Could Appeal to Liverpool
Under Andoni Iraola, Liverpool are entering another important phase of their development, with recruitment decisions likely to shape the squad for several seasons.
Mora’s creativity, versatility and considerable potential make him an understandable target for a club seeking to secure elite young talent before his market value increases further.
His age also offers Liverpool the opportunity to develop him gradually within a demanding Premier League environment.
Whether the club can convince Mora and his representatives that Anfield represents the ideal destination remains an open question.
For now, that thumbs-up has given Liverpool supporters something to discuss. Any meaningful progress towards a transfer will require considerably stronger evidence.
