YEOJU — A dairy farm in Yeoju has demonstrated the competitiveness of the city's dairy industry with a strong showing at a national Holstein show.
The city of Yeoju said on the 19th that a cow entered by Ahn Young-sam, head of Taeyoung Farm, was named reserve grand champion at the 2026 Korea Holstein Show, held recently at NongHyup Economic Holdings' Anseong Farmland in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.
The Korea Holstein Show is a leading dairy industry event that assesses the results of domestic Holstein breeding programs and sets future breeding directions. Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Animal Improvement Association, it draws top dairy farmers from across the country to compete on body conformation and breeding quality.
A total of 223 cows were entered nationwide this year. Five farms from Yeoju took part, presenting 31 cows in all.
Taeyoung Unix Sidekick MVP 2328, the animal entered by Taeyoung Farm, first won the intermediate champion title. It then went on to take the reserve grand championship in the final round, ranking second nationwide.
Taeyoung Farm also drew high marks for its breeding and herd management. The farm won the top breeding farm award as well, adding a second honor to its showing.
The awards are seen as national recognition of the sustained breeding efforts and herd management techniques of Yeoju's dairy farmers.
"I congratulate our dairy farmers on their strong results at the national show," Yeoju Mayor Lee Choong-woo said. "We will continue to provide attention and support to improve dairy cattle and strengthen the competitiveness of the dairy industry."
