Primark will open its 16th store in Portugal on November 19, with the budget fashion retailer preparing to welcome customers to its first shop in Vila Nova de Gaia.
The new store will be located at GaiaShopping, in the Porto district, and will cover more than 3,000sqm on a single floor.
Its opening will give Primark a third location in the Greater Porto area, joining existing stores at NorteShopping, in Matosinhos, and Parque Nascente, in Gondomar.
Customers will find the brand’s usual range of clothing, beauty products, homeware and everyday essentials, as well as its latest autumn and winter collections.
The timing of the opening, just over a month before Christmas, is also intended to tap into the festive shopping season, with gifts, seasonal fashion and home decoration among the products being promoted.
“We are very pleased to finally announce the opening date of our new store at GaiaShopping,” said Nelson Ribeiro, Head of Sales at Primark Portugal and Spain.
“The arrival of Primark in Vila Nova de Gaia represents an important milestone for us and we are very excited to welcome customers for the first time.”
He added that the new branch would strengthen Primark’s presence across Greater Porto and bring the brand closer to customers in Gaia and the surrounding region.
Expansion continues in Portugal
The Gaia opening comes just two months after Primark inaugurated its 15th Portuguese store at Alegro Setúbal in September.
That 1,600sqm store created around 50 jobs and formed part of a broader €45 million investment programme in Portugal, according to the company.
