Singapore’s Princeton Digital Group is lining up a syndicated loan of up to $1.2 billion to expand its data centers in Malaysia. The financing push was reported on October 14, 2026.
Five banks, one big check
The facility would run for three years. A consortium of five lenders is arranging the deal.
The lineup reads like a who’s who of Asian and international banking: HSBC Holdings Plc, Maybank Investment Bank, OCBC Bank (Malaysia), Standard Chartered Bank and United Overseas Bank.
PDG, as the company is known, is not new to borrowing for Malaysia. In 2024, it secured a $280 million green loan for its data center campus in Johor.
The new facility, at its upper limit, is more than four times the size of that earlier green loan. That jump says plenty about how quickly the appetite for capacity has grown in just two years.
The company also disclosed larger multi-billion-dollar debt plans earlier in 2026. The Malaysia loan appears to be one piece of a broader financing strategy, not a standalone bet.
Why Johor keeps showing up
PDG’s portfolio already exceeds 1.8 GW of capacity spread across multiple Asian markets.
Malaysia’s Johor region has become one of the company’s strategic locations. The area sits right next to Singapore, which gives operators geographic closeness to one of Asia’s most important digital hubs.
Johor also offers land and a reliable power supply.
The man and the model
PDG is led by co-founder Rangu Salgame, who serves as chairman. The company’s strategy centers on AI-ready infrastructure and long-term contracts with hyperscalers.
What this means
For PDG, the up to $1.2 billion facility would provide meaningful firepower to expand its Malaysian footprint on top of a portfolio already exceeding 1.8 GW. The three-year term also gives the company a defined window to put that money to work.
The things to watch include whether the syndicated loan closes at the full $1.2 billion and how PDG deploys the funds in Johor. Investors will also want to see how the company’s earlier multi-billion-dollar debt plans continue to take shape through the rest of 2026.
