Honda announcing that, as expected, Diogo Moreira will be promoted from its satellite LCR team to its second factory seat completes a staggeringly different 2027 MotoGP rider line-up.
Seventeen of the 22 riders on the grid are moving teams this winter in a shake-up that ousts five race winners from the field.
Here's the full rundown of who's ended up where.
Aprilia
In: Pecco Bagnaia (from Ducati)
Out: Jorge Martin (to Yamaha)
Stays put: Marco Bezzecchi
Bezzecchi and Aprilia committed to each other very early with zero doubts even as all the mad moves kicked off elsewhere.
Conversely, the Martin/Aprilia relationship was never likely to extend beyond 2026 given he tried to break it when it had barely begun in 2025.
Aprilia's made a big long-term commitment to Bagnaia as his replacement, as it backs itself to unlock the form the two-time champion has lost at Ducati.
Trackhouse Aprilia
In: Enea Bastianini (from Tech3)
Out: Ai Ogura (to Yamaha)
Stays put: Raul Fernandez
Fernandez's high peaks earn him an extended Trackhouse Aprilia stay, but losing Ogura to the lure of a factory Yamaha seat will hurt.
Though it gets a proven race-winning replacement in Bastianini, his patchy Ducati and Tech3 KTM stints have taken a lot of the shine off a reputation that was once super-high.
Ducati
In: Pedro Acosta (from KTM)
Out: Pecco Bagnaia (to Aprilia)
Stays put: Marc Marquez
Has Ducati just paired MotoGP's current greatest rider with its next one? Acosta was desperate for a chance to go head to head with Marquez in the same team and he gets it.
That means the once-glorious Bagnaia/Ducati relationship is put out of its misery.
Gresini Ducati
In: Joan Mir (from Honda) and Dani Holgado (from Moto2)
Out: Alex Marquez (to KTM) and Fermin Aldeguer (to VR46)
The Gresini atmosphere is a good bet for both Mir to get back to his Suzuki form after all his Honda-era woes and for Holgado to quickly get to grips with MotoGP after starring on the grand prix ladder.
Marquez couldn't resist the chance to get back on a factory contract, while Aldeguer's team switch is part of Ducati shuffling its in-house options.
VR46 Ducati
In: Fermin Aldeguer (from Gresini) and Nicolo Bulega (from WSBK)
Out: Fabio Di Giannantonio (to KTM) and Franco Morbidelli (to WSBK)
Having been an integral part of Ducati's 2027 test efforts while also obliterating his World Superbike rivals, Bulega is tipped to make a flying start to his full-time MotoGP move. Aldeguer's mission is to keep himself in a good place in Ducati's factory queue after an injury-wracked 2026 and with Acosta having got in ahead of him.
Di Giannantonio leaves to get the factory team seat that would've seemed unthinkable when his MotoGP career looked like it was barely hanging on, while Morbidelli lands on his feet by getting Bulega's prime WSBK seat despite the very underwhelming end to his time in MotoGP.
KTM
In: Fabio Di Giannantonio (from VR46) and Alex Marquez (from Gresini)
Out: Pedro Acosta (to KTM) and Brad Binder (to WSBK)
After very strong performances on very good satellite Ducatis, Di Giannantonio and Marquez have the reward of factory opportunities but the challenge of those factory opportunities coming at a team that only Acosta has achieved much success with in recent years.
Acosta's off to (almost certainly) win titles with Ducati now, while it's a sad end to the once-wonderful Binder/KTM relationship. He swaps to a World Superbike BMW that was a title winner with Toprak Razgatlioglu but has looked far less than that in anyone else's hands.
Tech3 KTM
In: Luca Marini (from Honda) and Senna Agius (from Moto2)
Out: Enea Bastianini (to Trackhouse) and Maverick Vinales (out of MotoGP)
KTM's complete rider line-up clean-out continues with the fractious end to its wild ride with Vinales and a rather quieter exit for Bastianini.
Marini will be a great development and consistency asset to the whole KTM project, but there are question marks over Agius and how much the desire to keep an Australian on the grid played into him getting this MotoGP chance.
Honda
In: Fabio Quartararo (from Yamaha) and Diogo Moreira (from LCR)
Out: Luca Marini (to Tech3) and Joan Mir (to Gresini)
Quartararo splitting from Yamaha long seemed inevitable and he made an early move to put his faith in its arch-rival (but currently its fellow struggler, if not in as much strife) Honda.
Moreira earned his factory promotion with a very strong rookie season at LCR.
Mir and Honda were also on the list of likely splits for a long time, but parting with the dependable Marini felt like a tougher call - though in the end Honda felt it could get more raw speed elsewhere.
LCR Honda
In: David Alonso (from Moto2)
Stays put: Johann Zarco
Out: Diogo Moreira (to Honda)
That Zarco even can be one of the grid's very few non-movers is a huge relief given there were fears his Barcelona crash might be career-ending.
Honda took its time to decide whether it should bring the extremely highly-rated Alonso straight into its factory line-up or reward Moreira's thoroughly decent rookie season performances. LCR was always going to get a fantastic young rider whichever way that call went.
Yamaha
In: Jorge Martin (from Aprilia) and Ai Ogura (Trackhouse)
Out: Fabio Quartararo (to Honda) and Alex Rins (out of MotoGP)
Martin and Ogura step off probably the best bike on the 2026 MotoGP grid to join the team currently fielding the worst - but are putting their faith in Yamaha's V4 move paying off while they're there.
It's a sad end to Rins's once-so-promising MotoGP career, and a relief that Quartararo and Yamaha can move on from each other given how long that partnership has been in fractious decline.
Pramac Yamaha
In: Izan Guevara (from Moto2)
Stays put: Toprak Razgatlioglu
Out: Jack Miller (to WSBK)
Razgatlioglu's 2026 MotoGP move was all about being ready for the 2027 rules reset, which is also an ideal time for Pramac and Yamaha to promote their protege Guevara after his excellent Moto2 season.
That means Miller's MotoGP career really is over this time, but Yamaha keeps him in the family with a move to its (also struggling) World Superbike programme.
