Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Samuel Animashaun Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has recounted how he was hit by a stray bullet while filming at the Sango-Ota Bridge in Ogun State in March 2026.
The entertainer shared his experience in a video posted on his YouTube channel on Wednesday, recalling the frightening moment he heard a loud bang and suddenly realised something was wrong.
According to him, the incident left him temporarily unable to hear what was happening around him, despite seeing people moving and talking outside the vehicle in which he was.
“All of a sudden, all I heard was a loud bang. Everywhere was silent. But I could still see people moving outside, people talking, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. It was just total silence in the car,” he said.
He explained that he touched his hip and noticed blood, which made him realise that he had been struck by a stray bullet.
Comedian feared he might die
Recounting his thoughts immediately after the shooting, Broda Shaggi said he was frightened and desperately wanted to survive as he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
“I didn’t want to die. I just don’t want to die,” he said.
The comedian disclosed that he was initially taken to a hospital where he received first aid. However, he was later transferred to another medical facility because the first hospital lacked the equipment required to manage his condition.
He said he was subsequently admitted to the emergency room at the second hospital, where he continued receiving treatment.
Recovery affected his mental well-being
Broda Shaggi also spoke about the emotional difficulties he experienced during his recovery, explaining that being unable to work or participate in activities he enjoyed left him feeling helpless.
The skit maker said he struggled with the inability to act, dance, sing and create content while in the hospital.
“I feel very useless. While in the hospital, I could not act, I could not dance, sing or do whatever I loved,” he said.
He explained that watching videos of fellow entertainers sometimes made him laugh, but the moments also brought tears as he worried about whether he would be able to return to his previous lifestyle and career.
Worried fans might forget him
The comedian further disclosed that he feared losing his relevance in the entertainment industry because of his inability to produce skits during his recovery.
He said the thought of being unable to maintain his regular content schedule was particularly troubling, given the importance of consistency in his line of work.
“I couldn’t imagine myself not being able to drop six skits in a month,” he said.
Broda Shaggi added that he was concerned that people might eventually forget him if he could not return to creating content.
His account offers a glimpse into the physical and emotional challenges he faced following the shooting incident, particularly the uncertainty surrounding his recovery and his ability to resume his entertainment career.
