The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, has commended the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) for its contributions to the welfare of police families and support for officers in the discharge of their duties.
Erale gave the commendation when he received the Chairperson of POWA, Delta State Chapter, Mrs Samuel Etaifo Iyabo, and members of the association during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Asaba.
The commissioner acknowledged the sacrifices, patience and understanding of police officers’ wives, noting that their support was essential to boosting officers’ morale and commitment to duty.
He said the demanding nature of policing often posed challenges to officers’ families, adding that the encouragement and stability provided by their spouses helped strengthen their ability to perform their responsibilities effectively.
Erale urged members of POWA to remain steadfast in supporting their husbands, stressing that patience, perseverance and mutual understanding were necessary for maintaining strong police families.
Earlier, Iyabo expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
She also commended the National POWA Chairperson, Mrs Mutiat Olufunmilola Disu, for her visionary leadership.
The POWA chairperson reaffirmed the association’s commitment to improving the welfare of police families, empowering women, promoting children’s wellbeing and contributing to community development.
The visit was disclosed in a press release issued on Monday by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
