The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has issued a stern statement warning President Bola Tinubu that he has a limited window to halt the persistent wave of abductions, killings, and general insecurity ravaging Nigeria.
The party, in the statement signed by its National Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of failing in its primary duty to protect lives and property.
The PRP alleged that the government was more interested in securing another term than addressing the dangers confronting ordinary Nigerians.
In its statement titled “Stop the Bloodletting”, the PRP criticized the presidency, stating that the administration cannot continue to respond to tragedies with mere press releases and platitudes.
The party emphasized that Nigerians cannot afford to wait until the 2027 general elections for security and relief from criminal elements.
“The scale of the killings and abductions of helpless citizens and the rising impunity of their tormentors suggests that Nigerians live in a lawless country,” Baba-Ahmed said.
He listed Kwara, Niger, Benue, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Borno, Plateau and Yobe among states affected by the attacks, warning that Nigerians continued to lose their lives, livelihoods, property and freedom.
The party also raised concerns over the pressure on military personnel and civilian volunteers battling insecurity, saying the crisis was threatening communities and the economic survival of millions.
“Our gallant military and sundry volunteers are hard-pressed and virtually at the mercy of this expanding industry that feeds on lives, livelihood and economy of millions of our people,” Baba-Ahmed said.

The PRP further accused the Tinubu administration of deploying huge sums of money to win the support of a small circle of Nigerians for what it described as a poisoned political ambition, even as citizens continued to bear the cost of insecurity.
Urging Nigerians to speak out against the killings, Baba-Ahmed insisted that the president had a duty to protect citizens before the end of his tenure.
“President Tinubu still has four months to go before his defeat. He has a responsibility to live up to his oath to protect lives and the welfare of Nigerians,” he said.
