A Belfast man has been jailed for screaming threats about raping a PSNI officer in front of her family.
Phillip Andrews, 40, also referred to police being blown up during a tirade of abuse in the city centre.
Imposing an eight-month sentence, District Judge Anne Marshall warned misogynistic outbursts will no longer be tolerated.
Andrews, whose address was listed as Maghaberry Prison, admitted charges of disorderly and threatening behaviour.
Belfast Magistrates Court heard he became abusive after officers observed him fighting with another man outside City Hall at around midday on September 9 this year.
Prosecution counsel Stephanie Boyd said: “He shouted obscenities and made reference to police being blown up.
“The defendant directed derogatory threats towards a female officer, threatening and screaming at her that she needed to be raped.”
Andrews also pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation in connection with a bank card stolen during a raid on a city centre bistro on April 14.
The card was used in a number of transactions before Andrews and two other suspects were spotted on CCTV footage at a Belfast hotel.
According to Mrs Marshall, the disorderly behaviour was worse than the fraud.
She highlighted how Andrews directed a string of misogynistic language at police, calling them “f***ing c**ts” and a “tramp”.
At one point he shouted: “Watch out, when you’re not in work… I’ll rape you in front of your kids, your ma and your da’.”
The judge ordered him to serve five months in custody for the outburst, and a further three months for the fraud offence.
“The court will not tolerate this any more, I’m seeing this far too often,” she declared.
“I hope it makes him think twice about speaking to the police like that again, and also using stolen bank cards.”
