Chiefs’ Kenneth Walker Predicted to Win Offensive Player of the Year
১৭/১০/২০২৬
Kenneth Walker III is having an incredible season with the Kansas City Chiefs. Could the talented running back win Offensive Player of the Year? Recently, FanSided’s Jake Beckman predicted Walker would take home the award this season:
“Kenneth Walker III transformed the Chiefs offense into a run-first unit, and he’s rushed for over 170 yards in half of the games he’s played. Kenneth Walker is going to end up being the Offensive Player of the Year. The Chiefs play in more Prime Time games, and they’re going to end up being a much more successful team than the other two. In a perfect world, this doesn’t get all Heismaned up and the Prime Time game part doesn’t really matter. But the Chiefs’ inevitable overall success is definitely going to help. Also, he rocks, so it’s not like that’s necessarily a bad thing.”
If Kenneth Walker continues to play as he has, it won’t be surprising at all if he wins Offensive Player of the Year honors.

His Career Thus Far
Kenneth Walker attended Arlington High School in Arlington, Tennessee. He rushed for 3,485 yards and 41 touchdowns during his career. He then committed to play college football at Wake Forest.
After two seasons at Wake Forest, Walker transferred to Michigan State following the 2020 campaign. He rushed for a whopping 264 yards and four touchdowns in his debut with the Spartans. Walker won both the Walter Camp and Doak Walker Awards in 2021 and then declared for the NFL Draft.
The Seattle Seahawks drafted Kenneth Walker in the second round (41st overall pick) of the 2022 NFL Draft. He had a great first year, rushing for 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns. He also joined Curt Warner as the only players in Seahawks history to rush for at least 1,000 yards as a rookie.
In addition, Walker helped Seattle reach the playoffs during his rookie year. He recorded 63 rushing yards and a touchdown during a 41-23 Wild Card Round loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Walker rushed for 905 yards and eight touchdowns during his second season. In Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers, he had 156 scrimmage yards and two rushing touchdowns, as he was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Walker missed six games due to injury in 2024 and ran for 573 yards and eight touchdowns that year. He also caught a career-high 46 passes for 299 yards and a touchdown.
Kenneth Walker played in all 17 games last season, rushing for 1,027 yards and five scores while adding 31 receptions for 282 yards. He also earned a Super Bowl ring as Seattle beat the New England Patriots 31-27.
Walker was named Super Bowl MVP, rushing for 135 yards. It was the most rushing yards in a Super Bowl since Terrell Davis’ 157 yards in 1998. Davis was also the last running back named Super Bowl MVP before Walker.

There are several reasons why the Chiefs missed the playoffs last season. A lack of an elite running back is one of those reasons.
The team went out and signed Walker as a free agent this past offseason, and it looks like a magnificent move so far. Unlike Kansas City’s running backs last year, Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco, Walker is able to create explosive plays by breaking tackles.
Walker is currently second in the NFL in rushing yards with 537 and has been instrumental in the Chiefs’ hot 4-0 start this season.
Kenneth Walker is certainly not going to win MVP. Well, it’s not impossible, but a running back hasn’t won the award since Adrian Peterson back in 2012. So basically, it’s highly unlikely. But if Walker continues to play like a superstar for the rest of the season, look for him to win Offensive Player of the Year.
