THE RUNDOWN
- Meghan Markle and Malala Yousafzai are celebrating International Day of the Girl with a new partnership.
- They announced details of the initiative following their outing in London.
- Meghan also announced a collaboration with Moms Offering More featuring a special-edition sweatshirt.
On October 11, Meghan Markle shared personal photos from her tea with Malala Yousafzai to announce the purpose of their gathering. To mark the International Day of the Girl, observed annually on this date, the Duchess of Sussex and the activist and Nobel Prize laureate are partnering to support a good cause.
In partnership with Archewell Philanthropies—home to the charitable work of Prince Harry and Meghan—100 percent of net proceeds from the jams and teas sold from Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, will support Malala Fund and its work to ensure every girl has access to free, safe, quality education.
The announcement comes just days after Meghan and Yousafzai reunited in London. On October 7, the two were spotted having tea at Claridge’s, the Mayfair hotel, in one of Meghan’s first public appearances in the U.K. capital since returning with her family from California in August. Initially, a source told ABC News that the pair are simply friends who had gathered for tea. Tea, it turns out, can be powerful.
“When we support the girls of today, we empower the women of tomorrow. Access to education is the key to unlocking this,” Meghan and Yousafzai said in a joint statement shared on Instagram.
Meghan unveiled As Ever in February 2025, introducing the brand as an extension of her longtime interests in cooking, gardening, and entertaining. Developed initially in partnership with Netflix, its inaugural collection debuted that spring with products including fruit preserves, herbal teas, honey, and baking mixes.
Malala Fund, launched in 2013, focuses on the urgent mission to push for policies that strengthen girls’ right to education in focus countries like Brazil, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Tanzania.
“When you invest in a girl’s education, you’re not just investing in that one girl. You’re investing in her future. You’re also investing in her family, in her community, you’re investing in a country’s GDP,” said Parampreet Singh, Malala Fund’s chief external affairs officer, on an ELLE panel earlier this year. “The list of benefits is endless. It gives such an amazing and hard-to-match return on investment.”
“Tea for Two has never felt so good,” Meghan wrote in their announcement.
The mother of two then shared news of a special-edition sweatshirt with “it’s the little things” embroidered on its sleeve. The design was made in collaboration with Moms Offering More—a community-driven initiative supported by the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation, with a mission to support historically underserved youth and families in the United States and Canada. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to that cause.
Overall, it’s been a busy and intentional morning for the Duchess of Sussex. In her post, she wrote: “All of those ‘little things’ can ladder up to big support.”
