The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is coordinating with various government agencies to bring former inspector general of police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed back to Bangladesh, ACC Director General Mohammad Nazmul Hasan said today (15 October).
Responding to questions from journalists, he said the Home Ministry and Foreign Ministry were also involved in the process alongside the ACC.
"The commission was maintaining regular communication with the relevant agencies," Nazmul added.
On 16 June, the ACC sent the necessary documents to the Home Ministry through the police's National Central Bureau (NCB) to facilitate Benazir's return to Bangladesh.
According to ACC sources, the documents included case records, an arrest warrant and court orders.
Earlier, on 21 July, the ACC said Dubai police had sought case documents and explanations on several matters as part of the process to send Benazir back to Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the trial in a case against Benazir over the alleged acquisition of assets beyond his known sources of income is underway at the Dhaka Special Judge Court-5.
The charge sheet accuses him of acquiring Tk11,04,57,357 in illegal assets.
