Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) represented by Farwaniya Governorate Security Directorate, conducted on Sunday an extensive security campaign in Khaitan, arresting dozens of people and registering hundreds of violations The campaign involved the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Kuwait Municipality, the Kuwait Fire Force (KFF), the Public Authority for Manpower and the Environment Public Authority, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
The arrested of 65 individuals were wanted for absconding cases and expired residency permits, seven whose visas had expired, one individual subject to a ban on entering the country, and three individuals wanted under arrest and summons orders in connection with debt-related cases, statement said.
Moreover, the authorities arrested one individual subject to an arrest warrant in a drug case, another wanted in a theft case, one individual in a drug case and another for being intoxicated.
They also issued 44 traffic citations, impounded 33 abandoned vehicles and seized two vehicles wanted in connection with breach-of-trust cases and one vehicle wanted in a theft case, statement added.
The ministry said the participating authorities’ operations resulted in the Public Authority for Manpower issuing 13 violations of the Labour Law against commercial establishments, while the Environment Public Authority issued two violations for improper storage of materials. KFF issued 202 notices requiring violations to be rectified, closed 43 establishments and issued 25 warnings of closure.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy issued one violation for tampering with an electricity meter and two violations for illegally connecting directly to the electricity supply with the intent to commit fraud and steal electricity. Kuwait Municipality issued 108 violations of the Building Law, placed 53 notices on properties violating Law No. 125 of 1992, and issued 21 violation reports against shops and three reports for road encroachments.
The Ministry of Interior affirmed that the necessary legal procedures had been taken against those arrested and found in violation, stressing that security campaigns would continue in cooperation with the relevant authorities to enhance security and public safety.
